June 11: "Paws in Motion,"
Bay of Islands SPCA
3rd Annual
Paws in Motion
Dog Walk will take place Sunday June
11th at 1:00 pm. Registration will begin in front of City Hall
at 12:00 and the walk will proceed along the Corner Brook Stream
Trail to Margaret Bowater Park for an afternoon of fun for the
whole family. Pledge sheets will be included in your next news
letter, and will also be available around town (at the Wal-mart
bulletin board, the vets, the groomers and at the shelter).
Please support this fundraiser. It's our biggest of the year and
all proceeds go towards our 2nd Chance Shelter Project. If you
would like to volunteer for this event, please contact the
shelter (785-2747) and leave your name and phone number.
June 17:
Doggie Fun Day & Canine First Aid Course, K9SARNL Fundraiser
K9 Search and Rescue Newfoundland and Labrador, the province's
first civilian-trained K9 Search and Rescue team, will hold two events on June
17, 2006 at the YMCA in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
$20.00 entry fee for the whole day!

Bring
your dog to have some fun trying out agility equipment such as tire,
tunnel, A-frame, weave poles, jumps and dogwalk! Children under 12
must be accompanied by an adult. Staff present will give guidance
on agility equipment and make sure everything is safe.
Entry Fee: $5.00 per person and dog ($2.50 for
each additional dog)

Canine First Aid Course 1:00-4:00

1:00-4:00: Canine First Aid course.
Instructor Leslie Pike, DVM, of Exploits Valley Animal Hospital.
Topics will include basic first aid for dogs such as how to recognize
and treat hypothermia, heat problems, broken bones, how to restrain and
transport an injured animal, common signs of trouble and when to take
the dog to a vet. Also, learn what you need to have in your doggie
first aid kit!
Humans only please, ages 12 and up.
Fee per person: $20.00
