HUNTER NEEDS A HOME

ALL  ABOUT  HUNTER:

Hunter is a purebred Black Labrador Retriever, neutered and up to date on all his needles.  He weighs approximately 70 pounds and is on the large end of the Lab size chart--he's tall and muscular.

Hunter came to us from a home where the people worked long hours and did not understand how an animal can basically go crazy if not paid attention to.  He was not given opportunities to exercise and did not have much to do during his days.  As a result, he began to develop some little habits like barking in the car (because he was so starved for something to do/something to see, being in the car was overstimulating for him, and he would bark) and getting overexcited when greeting people and other dogs.

Hunter has been in foster care for a few weeks now and has settled right down.  He is crate trained, house trained, great with all people, loves other dogs, loves children, etc.  He is an absolutely typical young Labrador in that he's excited about everything, has a tail that can sweep a coffee table clear with one wag, and wants to play 24/7.  Fortunately, like most Labs, Hunter will likely settle down greatly as he matures.  Most labs undergo a fairly radical change as they go from puppyhood to adulthood, changing from hell-on-wheels puppy to solid, laid-back adult.

The ideal home for Hunter would be with people who are willing and able to enjoy a young rambunctious large dog, and put in the training and exercise and mental stimulation to ensure that Hunter's mental and physical needs are met.  Interested parties will be required to fill out a questionnaire and agree to a home visit and to have two references checked.

The fee to adopt Hunter will depend on expenses incurred by the foster home.  It will not be much...enough to cover dog food for his stay and equipment bought for him (which will go with him).
