Basic Obedience

Need your dog to listen better?  Having a hard time with day-to-day life?  This seminar will teach you how to set up a good relationship with your dog so that you can enjoy him for a lifetime.  The seminar will also coach you on how to teach important obedience behaviours such as come, sit, stay, down, settle, and walking nicely on a leash.

Most dogs who are giving their owners a hard time have a few things in common.  Everything in their life is handed to them on a silver platter and they don't have respect or true trust in their owners.  They often are looking for action to relieve boredom (resulting in behaviours around the house that can be incredibly annoying).  Also, they usually have the misconception that they own and are in charge of everything to do with their family, and this can result in over-protectiveness, jealousy-type behaviours, and incredible amounts of anxiety in day-to-day life that usually makes the dog over-reactive and over-energetic.

Dogs like this need consistent handling, a few solid obedience behaviours, and good leaders who are confident about what needs to be done with their dog.

This is easily changed with gentle, consistent daily handling techniques that you will learn about at the seminar.  You and your dog will get a crash-course basic obedience class!

Aggression

This seminar is NOT just for owners of aggressive dogs.  Everyone who might encounter dogs in their life can benefit from this educational opportunity!  All of us encounter aggression in dogs during our lives, whether we are a pet owner or not...and this seminar will allow you to protect yourself and your children from uneccessary injury or trauma.

Learn to identify the causes of aggression, to identify aggression triggers, read body language, and how to begin to rehabilitate your dog if necessary.  Actual rehab techniques and safe management advice provided.  Hands-on seminar with dogs present!  Learn how to identify what is normal, and what is worrisome (and you might be surprised that what you think is terrible, really isn't).

On-leash aggression, dog aggression, and dominance aggression (toward people) specific topics of discussion. We will go over risk evaluation and management techniques for dogs that have already bitten. Also discussed will be "when must we kill the dog."  This seminar is not only for people who have a dog who is exhibiting aggression, but also for the trainers and personnel that must advise others on how to proceed.

All attendees can expect a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental environment.

Raising and Training a Puppy

This seminar is intended for people who wish to get the basics on how to start a puppy off right. Also, this seminar will allow already-teaching dog trainers to better design a program for their clients to ensure maximum success in puppy raising.

Part 1 of the seminar will cover basics such as housetraining, sleeping through the night, feeding routines, mouthing and chewing, basic obedience training, and most important of all...the best socialization program you can give your pet so that it grows up unafraid and confident.  Part 2 of the seminar will cover setting up the proper master and dog relationship that will allow your puppy to mature into a safe, enjoyable pet for a lifetime.  Ages covered:  7 weeks to 18 months of age.

Clicker Training

Ever wondered how dolphins learn to do back-flips, or animals in movies do those amazing behaviours for the cameras?  Clicker training is a wonderfully mentally enjoyable way to teach your dog the most amazing things, quickly and easily (fun not only for the dog, but for the trainer too!).  For people with shy or aggressive dogs, clicker training can be a tool you can use to get your dog "better" much faster than other methods.  Whether you are interested in training your dog tricks, helping your shy or aggressive dog, sharpening up your competitive obedience or sport skills, or teaching your husband (or wife!) to do the dishes without an argument, this clicker training and operant conditioning starter course will blow your mind and open doorways to possibilities you never dreamed of!  Be prepared to be "trained" yourself with the audience participation Clicker Game.  A fun, interesting seminar that is very interactive.
