Austin ARPH #11611 (Maine) Auggie’s previous owners came to realize that the personality of the average Aussie was just not amenable to their lifestyle. He spent much of his puppyhood on a tie-out and arrived on the ARPH doorstep with an impressively sun-faded coat – a striking strawberry blonde with dark roots. Look closely at his photos and you may be able to divine his beauty secret. With a nice grooming and a little time, his enviable rich chestnut red coat has resurfaced. But enough about the outside. Auggie’s real beauty comes from inside. He an outgoing, social guy that loves people (both men and women). He’s got a wonderfully goofy sense of humor, and seems to take great pleasure in making you laugh at his antics. At about 2 years of age, he’s got a moderately high energy level. He loves to run and jump, play Frisbee and catch balls like most young guys, but settles nicely when it’s time for his dedicated couch cuddle time. He melts into the soothing strokes with a look on his face nothing short of blissful peace. His ideal home may or may not have a second companion dog with an easy-going personality (Auggie really loves his “me” time and he’s working on his doggie communication skills; he can be a bit pushy). Running cats may prove too much of a tempting toy for Auggie. Dedicated coaching (and a very dog savvy cat) may possibly turn the tide, however. His manners around horses and other farm animals are improving, but a home without these curious wonders may be safest. His youthful bounce is a bit too much for young children – those little ones are just so exciting! Someone dedicated to continuing his obedience training would be ideal. He truly seems to appreciate learning his boundaries and enjoys the enhanced communication with his people. He learns quickly, walks nicely on leash, has good recall, and is becoming trustworthy off-lead. Car rides stress him out a bit, but he very much wants to come along. Big trucks rumbling by get him excited, so a home with a solid traditional fence might be best, if near traffic. Auggie has been neutered, is up to date on shots, and is ready for his new home. The reward for investing time and training in Auggie is a devoted companion that will bring much happiness. He blossoms with every kind word and touch.
